M8 Softail 0-3" extended Chain Drive Swingarms
The new M8 Softails are making 170+ hp with our LSR 2-1 Pro Stock exhaust systems and are switching to chain drive. With only +/- 1/4" movement there is no real happy spot for chains figuring in chain stretch or changing final rear sprocket sizes.

00-1306S Prototype
The 00-1306Sis the stainless version of our LSR 2-1 Pro Stock Challenge. We prototyped out this one in thick 16 gauge tubing to see what was involved beside the additional expense. This was for a M8 Softail for a Bonneville customer who was searching for 200hp...a bike that was not completed...big dreams, no execution.
We pre-chromed some of the hardware like our cnc machined venturis and the pipe rear mounting bracket.
00-1306RS Prototype
A 00-1306RS version with the resonator for decibel reduction. Same 2" primaries and 15 degree merge collector as other versions. Prototype.
Above is a 2020 M8 exhaust
which is OEM stainless after less than a few months of use.
The issue with stainless is
that it will turn gold, then brown, then
blackish...Plus you cannot chrome it. Then there is the issue of the
heat shields if also done in stainless.
It is also soft compared to
heavy 16 gauge mild steel and is usually made out of thin-wall
tubing....0.049" or less...or as we say "Oh too Thin Gauge"...typically 20 gauge .035".
We decided no stainless
production except for our higher end racing turbos. Even these we will
oxide blast, clean and apply a ceramic coat with Cerakote Glacier Forge C-8200. If left in raw stainless, they will discolor
quickly at elevated temperatures...turning gold, brown, and blackish.

Exhaust. This is our touring exhaust.
The same customer also has
one of our Dresser turbos, a 200HP 95" motor. He says his M8 "Does not
pull as hard as the turbo does".
Pictured above is our FXR Turbo Orca swingarm with 1" higher shock mounts. It has 2" of adjustment for the chain drive and uses a 25mm late model axle for a 17" Dyna rear wheel. The 2008 Swingarm has been modified to use our 5/8" 1999 FXR CVO2 transmission pivot shaft. A late model 4 piston CVO Dresser caliper provides the rear stopping power.
We are using a 1998 Dresser oil bag 5 speed transmission with Jims Fat5 gears. We also added a secondary gas tank where the original oil bag went.
We raised the shock mounts 1" to use with 13.5" shocks (same as running a 14.5" Shock) to get 6.00" of lower frame ground clearance with the smaller diameter 150 x 60-17 rear tire. We are also using stock narrowglide 39mm fork tubes with a 17" Buell front wheel (110/70ZR17) with the original 3/4"axle. We get an improved swingarm downward angle of 6 degrees as an additional benefit.
Sitting on its wheels the bike has 28
degrees of rake.
00-1306 M-8 Nitro Pro
Stock Challenge
We make a
00-1306 Pro Stock Challenge LSR 2-1 "Nitro"
exhaust with a "Kick" to keep the exhaust off of the M-8 Dressers
saddle bag. All the new M-8 models have better cornering clearance and
we tucked this "Nitro" Challenge design up where it cannot drag and
made it exhaust away from the right side bag.
No baffle.
Full race. Available with 12mm and, if specified, two additional 18mm
oxygen sensor bosses (no charge). Standard is two 12mm bosses for the
OEM 12mm sensors.
Here is our
56mm throttle body for our RSR EFI Turbo set up. It is configured with
two (2) 650cc Bosch EV6 (12 Ohm) Injectors in a 2 Bar (15 PSI Boost)
system destined for an 80" EVO motor that we pre-programmed for 195hp
@15 PSI.
We are phasing out our RSR Fuel Injection systems after 28 years. After
existing RSR EFI Turbo orders are satisfied and will be transitioning
to Bosch Motorsports 60mm Fly-By-Wire electronic throttle bodies and
Cosworth Pectel SQ6 and SQ6M electronics for our Turbo Evo ORCA Motors.
Our Intercooled Turbo Kits for oem Harley Twin Cam Delphi systems
remain unchanged . Take a look at the above. We did not show all
the parts...take a guess how much time is tied up in this stuff.
All of this
is made from, as they say, "scratch"...Lots of records, lots of
miles...lots of stories. 28 years ago there were no closed loop
turbos...except at RB Racing. 200 mph Harleys, BMWs, Suzukis, Triumphs,
Kawasakis....way before anyone else. Things do not sit still. Time to
move on. Life gets even more complicated and more expensive.

On the Dyno, it puts out around 112HP and 134 Torque. Iwan". 00-1399 on
a 116".
Note: We spent about 3-4
months doing and redoing these until we were happy with them. Then,
once you start shipping the first group of parts, you never know what
may come up. We made a few more changes based on customer feedback and
the systems seem to be well received. All this takes time. The goal was
to
build a full race system with sound attenuation and to focus on torque,
and a reduction
in weight and heat.

Machined Shovelhead Flanges
To insure correct port
sealing and geometry we machine the Shovelhead port spigot to 1.745" to
insure roundness and then TIG weld the flanges to the primary tubes.

models in baffled LSR 2-1 Turn Out and Slash Cut and full race LSR 2-1
Pro Stock versions.
Coat Black Ceramic
Finish
The Dual Coat Black Ceramic
is shown here after we media blast the top Black Ceramic Coat off with
#100 Oxide leaving the base Silver Ceramic Coat exposed. Holding the
blast gun at one spot for a longer period exposes the bare metal
underneath.
The Dual Coating process is expensive and takes several days with three trips to the oven. Once to clean the exhaust, once to bake on the Silver Ceramic at 600 Deg F and a third time to bake on the Black Ceramic Finish at 600 Deg F. It's the only way a Black Ceramic Finish will hold up to chemicals and corrosion. We have years of experience with this process.

We use 2000 Degree F
Ceramic coatings on our heat shield hose clamps for our Dual Coat Black
LSR 2-1 exhaust systems. It makes the clamps "disappear" and they will
not discolor.
We also heli-braze metal
tabs
inside our heat shields that are stamped for the part
number and your order number. The three digit number is the part
number...All LSR 2-1 exhausts are 00-1XXX, with the last three digits
indicating the part number. The alphanumeric four digit number is your
order number. The exhaust, as well as the the heat shields, also has
all seven digits stamped into it. The "blank" tab is a spacer only and
does not use a hose clamp.

to 4 or five psi of boost, short shift, and do it again...80 mph
instantly. Or, if the handlebar adjustable boost control knob is set at

New Indian
Chief LSR 2-1 Pro Stock Exhaust Systems.
The Indian Chief is a "from
the ground
up" interpretation of the classical V-Twin, kept alive for over 100
years by Harley-Davidson, the sole survivor. In 111 or 116 cubic inch
formats it's short on horsepower and long on clean sheet engineering.
Indians are here to stay this time around after several aborted
attempts to revive the marque.

classical V-Twin...This time around with three camshafts and some
pushrods as straight
as an Indian's arrow .
The OEM exhaust has little
in the way of
performance tuning. We've got that covered with a pure merge collector
LSR 2-1 design. Maximum benefit with Stage 1/2/3 and larger throttle
body (60mm) modifications past 130 horsepower.
Bosch
Motorsport Ignition Coils
These are the Bosch Motorsport Ignition
Coils that we use in our dual-plugged Turbo ORCA motors. We stock these
along with the specialzed connectors. ORCA motors use two 12mm
racing spark plugs per cylinder for bore sizes 4.000" to 4.375". We
trigger these with a Cosworth Pectel SQ6M ECU, programming four
separate spark maps, each with 25 x 25 sites, for a total of 2500
ignition points. In terms of keystrokes to enter this data...a bit shy
of 12,500 keystrokes. No one said this was going to be easy. We use
Champion 662 / A59C resistor racing spark plugs, which we also stock.

Bosch
LSU Wideband Sensors (20:1 to 10:1 AFR) are in production. IP67
waterproof in
billet enclosures these have our 10 L.E.D. interface that tells you at
a glance if your AFR is Stoichiometry (14.56:1) or peak power ratios of
13.5:1 or 12.5:1...and ratios of 11.5:1 or richer.
You cannot divert your attention to watch a digital gauge and try to read, or remember, spooling numbers. You need hysterisis at a target ratio that can be interpreted at a glance whether you are dodging cars, or going 200 mph. We just provide the AFR Gauge, not the Bosch Lambda sensors.

Real World Tuning
Package...While you ride..Not on the Dyno

You can observe while you ride in the real world to evaluate
transitionals and wide open throttle. The RSR Dual Air Fuel Ratio Gauge
is waterproof and Harley-proof. It gives instantaneous visual
information that is available at a quick glance...No numbers, just
position and color reference (GGGYYYOORR), to tell you if your mixture
is correct. Invaluable for wide-open runs through the gears or
evaluating transitionals on your roll-ons.
The above chart gives the response times
of the 2009 and later 12mm Delphi Oxygen sensors. In actual dyno tuning
you really
have to hold one "site", i.e. the intersect of load and rpm to get an
accurate feedback as the sensors are always "behind" due to their
response times. That's why you see Superflow engine dynos doing step
testing so things can stabilize. In a tenth of a second you could be at
any location on the fuel map...Not to mention the eight surrounding
sites that are being interpolated.
The problem with "holding things" on and
eddy current dyno is that is things heat up in these air
cooled engines and the hidden code in the Delphi ecm starts changing
things. You can really only do one wide-open throtte pull on a dyno at
one rpm
and load site before the engine heats up too much.
Best do real world data
recording with the TTS while you ride and then evaluate, in real time,
your map with the RSR milli-second fast RSR Fuel Ratio Gauge with
genuine 18mm Bosch O-Sensors. Real
time monitoring when you ride is the only way you can evaluate
transitionals, acceleration additives, and wide open throttle...all in
the real world moving through the air and on the road like you do
normally. All LSR 2-1 exhausts can be ordered with both 12mm and 18 mm
O2 sensor bungs.

People kept asking about RB Racing
releasing LSR 2-1 exhaust systems for the new Harley Motor. Well, we
are fixtured for them with some new
muffler designs that take into account the increased compression
and displacement. No matter what people
say, this is an emissions-designed engine with a lot of compression,
locked in place valve adjustment and camshafts that are simply going to
give you next to zero in gains for your hard earned money in just
changing
the exhaust. Every exhaust manufacturer wants your $$$ before things
are settled down. We don't.
We
released them when there were real gains to be made. 00-1306R is the newest
addition.
Testing has shown cam changes need to be
made along with a 2-1 exhaust to make any appreciable gains. Go ahead
buy your $500.00 air cleaners and your $700.00 Monster Slip-Ons...keep
the economy going. Dealer level cam modifications with CNC ported heads
are showing about 130 hp...about where the TC 120R motors were.
