Pictured above is Alan's book on Bonneville. "Speed Queen" is the name of a lakester style land speed car and the story of 5 retired New Yorkers that traveled to the 2008 World of Speed event at the Bonneville salt flats in Utah with Speed Queen in an attempt at the class speed record. First part of the book is mainly about Speed Queen. The remainder of the book features photographs of the numerous speed vehicles that attempted to achieve speed records on the famous salt flats. Illustrated are streamliners, motorcycles, lakesters, coupes, roadsters, trucks, etc. Approximately 139 color photos total.
Alan was kind enough to send us some pictures of the Bullett at the 2010 Bonneville SpeedWeek. It's a small world. As it turns out that, in many events, like the 1972 Monaco Grand Prix, we crossed paths with Alan but ended up meeting 38 years later. We compared notes from several Grand Prix races. Moths to the flame...Castrol and Nitro...rolling thunder from a Harley V-Twin or the shriek of the V12 BRM at Monaco.
