Meringue topping
This is the topping that goes on all the meringue things.
Ingredients:
- 2 egg whites
- ¼ teaspoon cream of tartar
- 3 tablespoons sugar or 4 tablespoons confectioners' sugar
- ½ teaspoon vanilla
Preheat oven between 325 and 350 degrees. Whip egg whites until frothy.
Add cream of tartar and whip until they are stiff but not dry; until they
stand in peaks that fall over slightly when the beater is removed.
Beat in the sugar 1 tablespoon at time. Do not over-beat! Beat in vanilla.
Spread on pie and bake 10-15 minutes depending on the thickness of the meringue.
