Misty's Christmas Cookies (Spiced Molasses Cookies)
Cream Together:
- 1½ sticks butter
- ⅔ cup sugar
- ⅔ cup molasses
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1 large egg yolk
Sift Together:
Add dry ingredients to the wet
Wait until batter gets all light colored and gooey
Make 1" balls and then roll in white sugar
Bake at 375° for 9-11 min.
Notes:
- For my oven (calibrated temperature) closer to 9 minutes is better than 11.
- Brown sugar is just white sugar and molasses, so I increased the sugar
and molasses and ditched the brown sugar.

"roll in white sugar" is a pain, the easier way is to put some sugar
in a bowl, drop the balls in the bowl, and use a spoon to dump sugar
from the bowl on top of the balls. You can do a bunch at a time that way.
It's a lot faster and easier and less fussy.
* "cookie juice" is just a mixture of the spices prepared earlier. A larger
quantity is easier to measure, and it saves work later.:
one batch:
- 1½ tsp cinnamon
- 1½ tsp ginger
- ½ tsp cloves
- ¼ tsp allspice
- ¼ tsp black pepper
four batches:
- 2 Tbsp cinnamon
- 2 Tbsp ginger
- 2 tsp cloves
- 1 tsp allspice
- 1 tsp black pepper
