If you show up with the same stuff as everyone else you aren't going to win. To win you have to have that "Unfair Advantage" that the late Mark Donohue engineered into the all conquering Porsche Can Am cars. The competition had 800 hp so you just show up with 1600 hp and send them home to their mommas. Once asked what something was made of Mark commented that it was made out of "unobtanium". ORCAS follow this dictum, especially the Turbo ORCAS. Like the man said, "Don't bring a knife to a gunfight". ORCAS are built to have an unfair advantage whether it is performance or economy. Lighter, stronger components. Better seals, bigger valves, straighter ports. Competition proven exhausts, turbos and fuel injection systems. Automatic compression releases and big cams. Forged high strength pistons and strong connecting rods with bigger wrist pins. Things done right, all working in harmony.
These are still the 45 degree v-twins that we love and they have all the basic limitations that come with roughly a 100 year old design, but if we wanted to ride a sewing machine we'd buy a Honda Goldwing. Potato, potato, potato...the staccato bump and grind of a high torque V-Twin that's got more horsepower than most Japanese bikes and a torque curve that will flatten a mountain without a downshift.
