Fork tube lengths
bike | fork tube length | damper stick out | total length
|
SV | 593.5mm | 122.5mm | 717mm
|
F2/3 | 633mm | 123.5mm | 757mm
|
Hawk GT | 640mm | 118.5mm | 759mm
|
Fork tube length= | the length of the inner/upper fork tube,
from the bottom to the top, excluding the fork cap.
|
Damper stick out= | The amount the damper rod/cartridge sticks out
of the bottom of the fork, when fully extended, so the damper rod
is touching the top-out spring. If if appropriate, the oil lock
piece was included in the measurement.
|
Total length= | total length from the top of the fork tube (excluding the
fork cap) to the very tip of the damper rod/cartridge including the oil lock
piece if appropriate. This is the only interesting number if you're swapping
innards, since the tip of the damper is the mounting point for the slider,
and you'll probably measure how much the forks stick out above the upper
triple clamp.
|
So, this should mean that if you put F2/3 internals into SV lowers
you need 40mm more sticking out above the triple clamp to get the
same rake/trail/ride height. I sayshould because there may be
differences beetween different years I don't know about. I doubt it though.
If you really want to be sure, measure the distance between the slider and
lower triple before taking anything apart, then duplicate that measurement
with the new forks.
