I messed up when I bought pads and rotors for my Miata. I mistakenly thought
that only the “Hard-S” package had the “big” brakes.
It turns out that any Miata with 16 inch wheels has the big brakes.
So, these don’t fit my car.
They will fit:
’94 - ’00 all models
’01 - ’02 with normal brakes
“normal” brakes are 255 mm / 10" in the front, 250 mm / 9.8" in the rear
By comparison, the “big” brakes are 270 mm / 10.6" front, 276 mm / 10.8"
rear. In ’03 Mazda with with “big” brakes in all trim levels.
Akebono is the OEM manufacturer for Mazda (and other companies), these pads
are as good or better than you’d get from the dealer.
Centric is (if The Internet is to be believed) better than OEM, while still
maintaining a price point.
I bought this combo because I wanted brakes that work well without needing to
be heated up, aren’t grabby, but have plenty of bite when you want it. I was
looking for good street brakes, not track brakes.
You will not be able to get a better price/quality than this without going
mail order, but I’ll eat most of the shipping to make my mistake go away, which makes
this a bargain!
