- 1981 GS450E - $1,000 OBO - Only 18,050 original miles! - My loss is your gain! - I only want out of it what I put into it! - plenty of tire tread left! - classic early '80s UJM styling! - these are making a huge comeback and will only go up in value! - I just need the space! - clean title in hand! What have I forgotten .... Oh right! - Ran when parked! Seriously though: "Or best offer" Really. Make me an offer I can't, or shouldn't, refuse. I have an idea of how much the bike would draw on eBay if I parted it out, but I'd rather sell it to someone who wants to ride it, even for less money. This was my first motorcycle. I bought it in '98, rode it for a while, and got something else. I've held onto it for sentemental reasons ever since, even planning to make it "modern" (suspension, carburetion, brakes, electrics) but never found enough time/motivation to finish it. Now I'm no longer emotionally attached to it and would rather have the space it takes up more. Despite its look, it's actually complete, except for the airbox. The Airbox was infuriatingly annoying to deal with, so I removed it. I ended up cutting it to bits to remove it. I have UNI pods for it, so it's not "unfiltered" All the unmounted parts are there: The battery box, the front brake caliper and master cyclinder, side covers, little screws, headlight (although I'd recommend adapting something modern). Everything I took off the bike went into one box. The keys work all three keyholes (tank, ignition, seat) GSX-R750 carbs adapted to this engine, but they really need to be tuned, it starts and idles, but that's as far as I got before getting sidetracked with other stuff. The GSX-R750 pistons are about the same size as the GS450 pistons, and the same carbs are used on the GSX-R1000, so there's no reason with a little patience they can't run on the GS450 really well. There's two OEM sets of carbs also. I can't remember which set came on the bike and which I got from a friend, but they're both off a GS450, just different years. As far as "ran when parked", I think I last started it with the GSX-R carbs about four years ago. No battery. It doesn't leak any oil, including the fork seals. I replaced a bunch of seals a bunch of years ago. The photo inside the garage is where it has been sitting for three years. No drips! The tank has some surface rust, but nothing structural, it's been empty for about 10 years, maybe 15. No dents. A previous owner put something sticky (tape?) on it, I haven't tried to remove it (even though I've had this bike since '98) The seat has no rips or tears, but there's a crack/break on one side's seat rail. (see the picture) It turns over easily when you spin the rear wheel in 6th gear. I spent 15 minutes with some HondaPolish, but only 15 minutes, and I didn't even try cleaning anything other than the painted parts and some of the black plastic bits. Some more effort shuould make it look less old. (I'm not going to say, "look new", that would take a lot more work) The head bearings and front wheel bearings are new (in miles). I replaced them probably 500 miles and 15 year ago. There's a spare clutch cable and some new engine seals I never needed. I can deliver a reasonable distance for the right sale price.
